NYE in DC
After not going anywhere for a month due to my pregnant state, then leaving our house only to pick up food and eventually being snowed in for two days I can't tell you how happy we were to arrive in our beloved city. We always joke that we're back in "civilization" when we pass through Tysons. This time papa bear even said "Look! Tall buildings!"
Though I have to say I think the grandparents were even happier. Valentina got to spend lots of time with both sets and she even got to meet her Indian auntie who was thrilled to say the least!
We had quite a lovely time ourselves! My parents watched her for an afternoon that afforded us a little jaunt to Georgetown for some after-Christmas shopping and a little date at Rugby where we both relished their divine burgers.
On New Years Day we took Birdie to see the Capitol and stopped by Sprinkles on the way home so mama could have cupcakes even at the cabin.
Speaking of the cabin there is still so much snow here! It has all completely iced over which makes our deck a very treacherous place to be at the moment. But as always there's no place like home where V loves (and sleeps in) her crib, where my back doesn't hurt because I'm in my own bed and where we can wear our bathrobes around the house all day if we want to as we savor these last couple of days and weeks of our maternity/paternity leave.
Oh! Also, I have a bit of fun posts cooked up for next week that I can't wait to share!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
